Blue Paper Moon by Jessica Onstine

Blue Paper Moon
Sitting on the blue paper moon among tiny sequin stars,
I blow a wish on the quiet wind to you-
a wish that you will love me like fire ablaze with white light,
pure and true, and without end.
I blow a wish on the quiet wind to you-
a wish that you will love me like fire ablaze with white light,
pure and true, and without end.
I hold you in the cold darkness,
warming you and whispering soft sweetness on your ear, like honey.
We connect like puzzle pieces,
intertwined like delicate vines who grow together, as one.
You touch me with gentle affection, as if I'll break.
I exhale my tension and let the lines on my face drift away.
As I close my eyes, I can still see you-
this perfect love that overwhelms my senses.
We fall into the night, lost in each other
and oblivious to the rest of the world.
Our heartbeats mingle and dance as we warm the darkness
and the blue paper moon falls quietly to the west.
